Why Dance for Life?
Hello Studio Owners and Directors,
We would like to extend an invitation to your studio to attend the Dance for Life Competition, which will be held February 12 and 13, 2010 at the Val Browning Center at Weber State University. This one of a kind competition offers something that no one else has--an opportunity for the High Point winners to dance with the esteemed Odyssey Dance Theatre in their production of SHUT UP AND DANCE. And participation in DfL guarantees that your team will receive a professional judging critique from the very best Utah has to offer.
The judges at Dance for Life are from Odyssey Dance Theatre, and include Derryl Yeager, Veronica Yeager, Thayne Jasperson, Eldon Johnson, and many other professional dancers and choreographers. There can be no denying the impact that this company has had on Utah and its dance culture, something that was illustrated specifically this past year with two of the finalists on the top-rated Fox television show SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE having trained at ODT.
At Dance for Life, the High Point soloist and team get to perform with ODT's SHUT UP AND DANCE, in late March. And also, this year we are going to be awarding cash prizes to the top winners.
While the DfL competition is closely tied to the local dance community, we are not affiliated with any studio. In addition, this competition supports charities and good causes. A donation is made every year to the Ogden Rescue Mission as well as other worthwhile causes.
In short, WHY choose Dance for Life?
*This is a STAGE Competition. All teams, from beginning to advanced, compete on the same beautiful stage at the Val Browning Center at Weber State University.
*A stage competition also means adequate, comfortable seating for relatives and friends.
*Cash prizes. This year, DfL will be giving away cash prizes to High Point winners, both in teams and in solos.
*Professional judges. All divisions are judged by members of Odyssey Dance Theatre, and they provide a professional critique for all dancers and teams.
*High Point Winner in both solos and teams get to dance with Odyssey Dance Theatre's SHUT UP AND DANCE. This is a wonderful opportunity for all dancers.
*DfL makes a sizable donation of food to the Ogden Rescue Mission each year. In addition, a Dance Down is held, and all the money is given to a charity or a dancer and dancer's family in need.
Here's hoping to see you at our 2010 competition!
